How fast is the transcription?
Sub-second. Most dictations complete in 200 to 500 ms from the moment you release the key to text on screen.
Does it work in every app?
Yes. Voice Keyboard Pro types directly into whatever app has focus: Slack, Gmail, VS Code, Terminal, browsers, all of it.
Is my audio sent to the cloud?
By default, audio is sent over an encrypted connection to a transcription provider and discarded immediately after. Turn on Offline Mode in Settings for fully local transcription with no network.
What do I need to run it?
macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later, on Apple silicon or Intel. On iPhone, get the keyboard from the App Store.
How is it different from Apple Dictation?
Hold-to-speak from any app, sub-second speed, voice commands, text snippets, dictation history, and meeting notes. Apple Dictation has none of these and is noticeably slower and less accurate.
